What is Cosmetic Dermatology?
You show your face to the world every day. At work, at home, and at play, everyone you meet sees your face first. If there’s something about it that isn’t quite right, it can have a huge impact on your self-esteem and confidence. Maybe you have a scar from an injury or surgery, or many scars from severe acne when you were a teenager. It’s tough to hide it with makeup, and the supplements and creams you’ve been trying just aren’t working.
Or maybe you’ve experienced the changes of aging, with sagging and wrinkles developing on your face. You look old and tired, but you feel young and vibrant, and you want your face to reflect that. But the expensive face creams you’ve been buying are disappointing in their lack of results.
Cosmetic dermatology uses minimally-invasive techniques, such as injections, lasers, and other tools that work on or near the surface of the skin, to improve the skin’s appearance. It can reverse some of the signs of aging and restore the face to a more youthful appearance, or improve the appearance of scars or other skin damage. Because this isn’t surgery, no incisions are involved, and procedures generally take less time than facial plastic surgery and have an easier recovery.
This section of Doctor Review is devoted to the cosmetic dermatology procedures that can help you show the world a face that reflects who you truly are — beautiful, youthful, and vibrant.
